ANAT worked with the Telstra Adelaide Festival and the Contemporary Art Centre SA, as part of the Telstra Adelaide Festival 2000 on the development of a project titled VERVE: The Other Writing. VERVE explored the intersection of writing with visual art, music, performance and current digital art practices. The project was conceptualised by the Festival in association with ANAT and the CACSA and developed and programmed by Teri Hoskin from the Adelaide based Electronic Writing Research Ensemble.

VERVE, a multi-faceted project was designed to be enjoyed in the flesh and in the disembodied realms of online environments. VERVE, held at the Contemporary Art Centre of SA, included a forum on digital writing practices, which was held at Ngapartji Multimedia Centre, a video installation by Bill Seaman, an exhibition of artists books & graphic sound scores, performances, workshops and on online reading-writing room,; as well as tours of the conservation laboratory at ARTLAB, which included discussion of the conservation of texts in the current digital environment.
