DiVA & VideoArtWorld announced a partnership between the two companies dedicated to developing the presence of video art in the market place. The partnership is in place immediately and its goal is to produce an exceptional edition of DiVA Paris slated for the 24, 25, 26 & 27th of October this year. The new team is planning an entirely new format to show the artworks; joining FIAC, Show Off and Les Elysees de l'Art in the center of the city of Light, DiVA Paris 2008 will mount an unprecedented 600-m2 tent with black carpet and black walls. This design will differentiate DiVA from any other art fair produced today.
Special programs include a tribute to Wolf Vostell; Rafael Vostell will be present as a special guest to lead a discussion on his father's work and legacy, accompained by some of the leading lights on the field. French auctioneer Pierre Cornette de Saint Cyr will present the first auction sale exclusively commited to video art worldwide, and an exclusive reception will be held at the fair for collectors to preview the artwork.
This new partnership has triggered the appointment of Ms. Macu Morán as new curator of DiVA Paris. Her curatorship of the international video art fair should extend beyond this Paris edition. Former renowned DiVA curator Elga Wimmer will remain on the board of director and a close adviser to Frère Independent and Thierry Alet.
Ms. Macu Morán, lives between Madrid and New York and created VideoArtWorld in 2007, soon becoming a leading website supporting the clarification of the new media art market, presenting unique features that allow galleries to connect with curators and collectors simply and efficiently. Starting at the beginning of this year, an option to purchase the work directly from the website will be added as a first step toward online art trading.
VideoArtWorld network of professionals includes a selective number of curators and critics specialized in the field of Video in charge of developing exhibitions, debates and essays for some of the most prestigious appointments of the international art world.
Galleries participating in DiVA will benefit from this partnership a great deal; two companies will be working for the success of the show and widening access to collectors and curators. Participation in DiVA Paris grants participating galleries immediate access to the services of VideoArtWorld, while VideoArtWorld clients will benefit automatically from a discount to participate in this upcoming edition of DiVA Fair.
